When Lake Höllenstein with its wooded shores and steep rock formations was still a river, raftsmen used to travel here and navigated by prominent rocks, giving them memorable names. One particularly deep spot was called “Auf der Höll” (On the Hell). The construction of the power plant in the 1920s brought an end to rafting, and today, near the roughly 20-metre-high dam, stands Höllensteinhaus, whose name recalls the former craft.

The terraces extend the space towards nature, while the sloping wooden roof almost merges with the surrounding trees. Thanks to the large windows, natural light flows inside, creating a harmonious and cosy atmosphere.
